Live Performances
Cheryl Costello weaves together acoustic music with her voice and guitar, occasionally adding in the sounds of Irish flute or fife for a touch of Celtic flair. Her performances blend Celtic, Old English, and American folk melodies, drawing on her diverse musical background. Cheryl’s historical folk sets take audiences on a journey through the cultural and emotional layers of these traditions, connecting the rich history of Celtic music with the lasting influence of American folk.
Cheryl’s musical journey includes leading a family bluegrass, folk, and Irish band across almost forty states, an internship in hospice music, and currently serving as a Teaching Artist for Wolf Trap’s Institute for Early Learning through the Arts. As a music therapist currently working with both young children and older adults and those in memory care, Cheryl uniquely ties her historical folk music sets to the therapeutic use of timeless songs, allowing audiences to explore the rich cultural roots and emotional depths of both Celtic traditions and American folk.
